Dr. Dickson A. O. Akoh: A Legacy of Leadership and Nation-Building
Dr. Dickson A. O. Akoh is a distinguished scholar, youth development expert, and the visionary founder of the Peace Corps of Nigeria (PCN). Born on July 10, 1973, he has dedicated his life to addressing the critical challenges facing Nigerian youth through creativity, peace-building, and strategic empowerment.
Founder of the PCN
In 1998, Dr. Akoh founded the Peace Corps of Nigeria (PCN)—a pioneering youth-focused organization that has since grown into one of Nigeria’s most structured and impactful movements. With over 187,000 officers and members, PCN operates a strong network of branches across the country. It is incorporated in Nigeria, recognized by the Federal Government, and holds Special Consultative Status with both the United Nations (UN) and the African Union (AU).
Academic & Professional Excellence
Dr. Akoh holds a B.Sc. (Hons) in Sociology from the University of Abuja, where he is also advancing his studies in Criminology at the Master’s level. His global academic standing is fortified by a Doctorate of Philosophy (Humanities) from Commonwealth University, Belize, and a Professorship in Social Works bestowed by the Freedom University and Theological Seminary, USA, in 2020.
National Service & Recognition
In recognition of his immense contributions to national development, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, appointed Dr. Akoh to the Governing Council of the Federal University of Technology, Babura, Jigawa State, in June 2024. Furthermore, the International Consortium for Societal Resilience (i-NCSR+) at the University of Manchester has named him Nigeria’s National Coordinator, solidifying his status as a global advocate for societal progress.
Honors & Titles
A recipient of over 120 national and international awards, Dr. Akoh is highly revered in his home state of Benue. Most notably, the Idoma Traditional Council conferred upon him the chieftaincy title of Oyachaba K’Idoma (The Great Achiever), a testament to his sterling leadership and service to humanity.
